alvin dawson, jr
Alvin Dawson, Jr. is a trained drummer and percussionist based in Southern California. He has studied under Roger Schupp, Olman Piedra, Isabelle Huang, and Nancy Heath. Alvin attended Bowling Green State University where he studied multiple facets of world percussion, orchestral percussion, and jazz percussion.
Originally from Toledo, OH, Alvin has spent much of his life in the pursuit of sharing music with others. He's had the pleasure of instructing large and small ensembles, teaching privately, and arranging/composing pieces for various groups. Alvin is also no stranger to the stage having performed in orchestral small band settings all over the United States.
Alvin currently serves in the U.S. Army Reserves and has served as an Army Musician for ten years. He is standing member of The Oles, a reggae band based out of Santa Barbara, CA. He also performs and records regularly with various musicians, both local and worldwide.
Alvin currently divides his time between playing, teaching, composing, and loving his family.
